IB Learner Profile
IB is for the Intellectually Curious
Any student who is eager to learn, to question, and to discuss is welcome to apply. While most successful IB Diploma students take several honors classes before the beginning of the junior year, exceptions can be made.
Successful International Baccalaureate Diploma students:
are self-motivated and family-supported. The desire to pursue and succeed in the IB Program must ultimately come from within the student.
have a desire to challenge themselves intellectually and academically. Students who just want to “get by” or who are “going through the motions” to get into college will be uncomfortable in an IB environment.
are competent readers. Students should read at or above their grade level.
speak and write the English language clearly and effectively.
possess or are eager to acquire analytical/critical thinking skills.
possess or are willing to acquire good time and stress management skills.
are open to new ideas and tolerant of different beliefs.
participate in actively and enthusiastically in school and in their community.

We hope that students who participate in the International Baccalaureate Program become:
- INQUIRERS--They acquire the skills necessary to conduct purposeful, constructive research.
- THINKERS--They exercise initiative in applying thinking skills critically and creatively to make sound decisions and to solve complex problems.
- COMMUNICATORS--They receive and express ideas and information confidently in more than one language, including the language of mathematical symbols.
- RISK TAKERS--They approach unfamiliar situations without anxiety, have confidence and independence, are courageous and articulate in defending things in which they believe.
- KNOWLEDGABLE--They have spent time in school exploring themes with global relevance and importance, and have acquired a critical mass of significant knowledge
