Do you know a volunteer, teacher +/staff member who has gone above + beyond for our students?

Nominate them for a PTA honorary Service Award. HSA are awards given by NHHS in recognition of individuals or organizations who have gone above and beyond in making a difference in the lives of our students. NHHS PTA is requesting your nominations for this year’s HSA.  

Newport Harbor PTA recognizes individuals who have gone above and beyond and are devoted to giving outstanding service to the children in our school communities. NHHS PTA winners attend a beautiful Newport- Mesa Harbor Council Luncheon in May.

• Very Special Person Award (VSP) – This award is given to recognize an individual or organization for their service to PTA. 
• Honorary Service Award (HSA) – This award is given to recognize an individual or organization for outstanding service to children and youth in your community, going above and beyond what is asked of them. 
• Continuing Service Award (CSA) – This award is given to recognize an individual or organization for ongoing or long-time service to children and youth, providing support year after year. 
• Outstanding Teacher Award (OTA) – This award may be given to recognize a teacher for outstanding service to children and youth through PTA, school, or community. 
• Outstanding Administrator Award (OAA) – This award may be given to recognize an administrator for outstanding service to children and youth through PTA, school, or the community. 
• Golden Oak Service Award (GOSA) – This award is given to recognize, as the most prestigious of the Honorary Service Awards, an individual or organization that has made significant contributions to the welfare of children and youth in a school or community.

"I Belong" is the theme for the 2025-26 Reflections Art Program, which has been bringing the arts to life for more than 10 million students since 1969. California State PTA and its members, families and kids are on the forefront of this amazing program, which increases community awareness of the importance of arts in education.

Reflections encourage students of all ages to: 

• Unleash creative talents and be inspired

• Express themselves imaginatively in their artwork
• Experience the fun and joy of making art
• Tap into critical-thinking skills to create art inspired by the annual theme
• Receive positive recognition for their original works of art.

All students attending PTA schools sponsoring the program are invited to participate and submit original artwork in one of six areas:

• Dance Choreography
• Literature
• Photography
• Film Production
• Music Composition
• Visual Arts.

Artworks are submitted first to school-level PTAs, where they are first recognized, celebrated and judged. School PTAs then choose a selection of entries to be judged by local PTA units, which are then sent on to councils and then districts for consideration. The final artworks submitted to California State PTA by districts are then considered for Outstanding Interpretation, Awards of Excellence or Awards of Merit. Outstanding Interpretation and Award of Excellence entries then go on to represent California in the final National PTA judging round.

State-level Outstanding Interpretation honorees receive:

• Onstage recognition at the California State PTA Annual Convention
• The opportunity to showcase their artwork at the California State PTA Convention Reflections Gallery
• Prizes including an Outstanding Interpretation plaque, award and certificate

State-level Award of Excellence honorees receive:

• The opportunity to showcase their artwork at the California State PTA Convention Reflections Gallery
• Prizes including an Award of Excellence medallion, award and certificate

State-level Award of Merit honorees receive:

• The opportunity to showcase their artwork at the California State PTA Convention Reflections Gallery
• Prizes including an Award of Merit medallion and certificate

National-level Outstanding Interpretation honorees are recognized at the National PTA Convention, plus their artwork, along with any National Award of Excellence and Merit winners, are featured in Reflections’ popular traveling national exhibit.

Students must turn in their entry along with the 2025-2026 Reflections Students Entry Form (+ Rules) to the front office by Friday, October 17th, 2025 by 3:35pm.

NHHS PTA 2026 SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

Newport Harbor High School PTA is an active volunteer organization dedicated to the encouragement of academic success and volunteerism. The PTA raises funds for school programs and scholarships through its annual membership drive, donations and fundraisers such as the Holiday Market. This year, PTA will award a total of $5,000 to graduating seniors. Five $1,000 scholarships given out to graduating seniors.

The scholarship will take into consideration
● Scholastic achievement
● Community involvement (volunteer work, scouts, church, etc.)
● Initiative and activities at NHHS
● Extracurricular activities (club sports, hobbies, home responsibilities)
● Work Experience (place/length of employment, job description, hours/week)
● Quality and completeness of application materials.

Scholarship Information
● Scholarships totaling $5,000 will be awarded to qualified NHHS students who are PTA members to assist with tuition,
housing, books, medical insurance and/or lab fees.

Requirements
● Have completed a minimum of 40 hours of Community Service from 9th grade through 12th grade.
● Have a minimum non-weighted 3.0 GPA from 9th grade to the first semester of 12th grade.
● Be a current member of the NHHS PTA by April 17th, 2026..
● Have made application and plan to attend an accredited four-year or two-year college, trade or technical school
● Submit a completed NHHS PTA Sr. Scholarship Application by the deadline.
● Award winners must provide valid proof of enrollment at an accredited college, university, trade or technical school by
June 1, 2026.

Mandatory Application Materials

• A completed application form
• Copy of your current high school transcript
• A brief statement about what this scholarship would mean to you.
• Member of the NHHS PTA
• Application Deadline: April 17th, 2026

Please complete the entire application and submit with all required documentation to the NHHS Counseling Office by the deadline
in order to be considered for the scholarship. Late submissions will not be accepted.
All applicants are notified of their status in May. Scholarship winners receive a letter of congratulations and recognition at the
NHHS Sr. Awards Ceremony in May.

_PTA SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

For many years the NHHS PTA has given one scholarship of $1000 to a graduating senior based on their art piece submission, the winner's art piece is then placed on display in the permanent collection on campus. Artwork entries must be submitted along with the application by May 8th, 2026 to the front office. $1000 will be awarded to ONE winning artist at the NHHS Senior Awards Night Ceremony. 

The winner of the Class of 2026 Senior + art will be placed on display in our permanent collection on campus at NHHS.
