Preparing for the IB Diploma Program

Preperation timeline

In 8th grade:

  • If possible, start studying a second language.
  • If possible, enroll in honors English.
  • Do your best in all of your classes.

In 9th grade

  • Join the NHHS IB Signature Academy.
  • Start or continue studying a second language.
  • Take a visual or performing arts class.  This is a UC requirement.  Get it done now so you'll have more options later.
  • Consider taking health as an extra class or online over the summer.

In 10th grade

  • Start or continue studying a second language.
  • Enroll in AP English Language. NHHS's college-level English classes are "open door." There are no pre-requisites or permissions required. Any student willing to read more, write more, and work harder is welcome.
  • Take an AP history class.
  • Consider taking health as an extra class or online over the summer.

As soon as possible: contact NHHS's IB Coordinator, Alma DiGiorgio to design your IB plan.
